EyeWrite

Aside from my Master's Thesis, this is probably my favorite project. EyeWrite began as a project for my Eye Tracking class. While I was at CHI 2006, I ran into Dr. Andrew Duchowski, who teaches the class at Clemson. I also got to hear Dr. Jacob Wobbrock speak about the work he'd done with EdgeWrite, which used a trackball to help disabled people write. The two things "clicked" in my head and I took Dr. Duchowski's class. Michael Sawyer and I performed the initial design and experimentation. After the class was over we contacted Dr. Wobbrock and Dr. Duchowski and we put together an experimental plan. It took some time to get the EyeWrite design 'just right', but we got there.

EyeWrite is different than most other eye-typing programs, in that it doesn't use hunt-and-dwell letter selection, rather a user 'writes' a letter with his eyes by crossing into the corners of a box. This has the advantage of smaller screen real estate and (hopefully) being easier to use.

We did manage to get two publications out of the project, too
