Come out to McAdams 114, Wednesday Oct. 7 @ 8:00 PM for our next Meeting. The meeting topic will be an introduction to Python with Object Oriented Programming given by Chris Guirl.
Python is a programming language that lets you work more quickly and integrate your systems more effectively. You can learn to use Python and see almost immediate gains in productivity and lower maintenance costs.
Python combines the power of a language like C++ with the ease of use found in a language like BASIC. CLUG presents a primer on the popular language which will include a focus on OO principles. Come see why companies like Google make this one of their primary coding platforms.
Representatives from Sun Microsystems and clemson's OSUM club will be on the library bridge Friday Sept 18 from 10:30-3:00 handing out free swag and telling people about alternatives to closed source software.
Our first meeting of the semester will be held on Wednesday, Sept 16 at 8pm in McAdams 114 . Aaron Rosen will be giving an introduction to linux and showing off some cool tips and tricks.
Clemson Linux User Group will be having their first installfest of the
semester on Sat. Aug 29th from 11-3pm in Martin 101. Bring your computer,
power cables, and any hardware that you would like to get working under
linux.
(Also please run the disk defragmenter and the scan disk before you come
because sometimes those have to be run before repartitioning your hard
drive).

The SouthEast LinuxFest is a community event that is open to everyone who is interested in Linux and Free & Open Source Software.
The SouthEast LinuxFest is going to be the place to be on June 13, 2009 at the Clemson University Hendrix Student Center in Clemson, SC. We have a lot of really great speakers already scheduled to speak. We will be announcing more details about the event in the coming weeks.
CLUG's final semesterly meeting will be, as usual, a dinner meeting during which official business such as elections and the like will take place. CLUG will be covering the costs for any paying member that wishes to attend, with the exception of any alcohol purchases, but anyone is welcome to come (but we're not paying for your food, we're cheap). The meeting will take place on Monday, April 20 at 7PM at Ruby Tuesday in Clemson.
The tenth TigerLAN event, Clemson's only semesterly LAN party, is going to occur on April 11th starting at Noon in Hardin Auditorium. For more information, and to sign up, please visit http://www.tiger-lan.net
Scott Duckworth, Unix system administrator for the School of Computing, DPA, and CES systems, will be presenting on the tools and scripts that he uses to manage the Unix labs and servers. He will also venture into some of the server-side stuff as well.
