|
|
The first iteration of the Clemson Ubuntu 7.04 install DVD image is now hosted at the archive. Basically, all extra that it does currently is pre-install specific Clemson packages, and have the CLUG repo configured. It's based on the Ubuntu 7.04 Alt CD.
Test it out if you'd like. I should be adding more soon, mainly software for techs to speed up installs at CCIT. Beware, the image is slightly larger than a CD, hence the DVD. Hopefully I'll be able to strip a few things out to fit it on a CD. Also, since the DVD is streamlined for CCIT installs, a few things have been configured such as the default username and hostname have been set to "student." I'll be changing that soon for more generic installs.

| I don't think it's really an issue of compiling, but really finding the PPC packages and such. It'll probably be a while before I get around to it after I finish the x86 disk, there's still a lot more to be done with it. One of the main issues with PPC is testing it, I don't have any Mac hardware, and it only leaves me with VM software, which can be slow at times on my workstation. I'll get to it as soon as I can. |

The next version of the Clemson Ubuntu installation CD is up. A couple of bugs have been fixed, and the preseeding has been tweaked to add a little extra user configuration during the installation process. Also, Automatix2 has been added to the disk. You can find the CD at the archive, and well as the md5sum checksums.
Note: The ubuntu-7.04-alt-clemson.iso file always links to the latest version of the install CD, so its md5sum is not in the list.
Stuff I need to add to the disk in the next version:
Automatic NTFS read/write support (Included, but not turned on by default)
Virus and firewall software
Remove Proxy configuration questions during installation. (DONE)
Stuff that would be cool, but not an immediate need:
Java
flash
w32codecs
wine (DONE)
NetworkManager keyring tweak
Remove CD repo from APT sources list (DONE) |
