Am I doing something wrong, or did CCIT change the configuration of the VPN? A few weeks ago I tried to use my VPN (vpnc) for Clemson and found that it was not working. I get a Clemson IP address on /dev/tun0, but when active, it completely impaired the use of my browser and provided no connection to the MatLAB license server that I was seeking. I was making and breaking this connection using vpnc directly at the command line.

That was under Ubuntu 9.04, last night I installed 9.10RC to a root partition and user directory. I tried to connect using the Network Manager (the VPN function of which never configured properly for me on the last version) and pointed it at my Clemson.conf. I get the same thing, login, a message saying I'm connected, a Clemson IP, but no functional connectivity. I'm behind a NAT DSL modem on BellSouth and bridged wireless router. Output of ifconfig and the content of my Clemson.conf follow.

Any thoughts are most appropriated. Thanks.

I tried again from school and VPN works fine here over either the wired or wireless networks (not very useful, but perhaps informative). I'm am thinking perhaps the problem is in my home network.

I recently switched from having a bridged modem to bridged router letting the to allow me to access the modem's stats while trouble shooting problems with our interior phone wiring. Thus, NAT is now handled by the Westell modem rather than Belkin router. I'm thinking this may be the problem.

It's been working fine for me on *gasp* Windows 7. Haven't tried it on my Fedora install in a while though.

Tried eliminating the router, using the DSL modem directly. It worked and when I put things back the way the were, it still works. Maybe the network crap just needed to be reset?

This appears to be case closed.
